Balance: Automated routines to make you a millionaire

Wouldn’t it be great if we could automate our money and one day become a millionaire?

We watch shows like Crazy Rich Asians and Rich Housewives. But where’s the reality TV show called ‘the secret boring lives of millionaires’?

Because it is – most millionaires get to that point in a boring way by saving regularly over a long period of time.

This is not financial advice to automate your money

automate money to find your balance

We can’t give financial advice, but pretty much any personal finance book you pick off the shelf will say automate your money so you don’t have to think about it. This avoids your lizard brain worrying about money.

Automatic transfers to savings accounts do all the hard work of saving regularly so you don’t need to think about it. Better yet, you won’t spend it or miss it if it’s not in your everyday transaction account.

Just how rich are you?

While you’re busy tracking down our recommended reading so you can automate your finances, check this out. We often compare ourselves with others, thinking we are poor and don’t have enough material wealth in our lives. Keeping up with the Jones is a serious affliction (or affluenza) but the reality is, if we’re in Australia, we are already incredibly wealthy.

Put your after tax income into the How Rich Am I online tool and you’ll probably be surprised. So stop looking up at the small number of richer people above you. Think about how fortunate you are, be grateful and content for what you have. Consider donating your wealth in impactful ways through Effective Altruism.
